Cardinals put Jeremiyah Love on IR as the Ravens turn to Joe Fagnano

Arizona placed its rookie running back on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain expected to cost four to five weeks, and Baltimore named Joe Fagnano its Thursday night starter. Tuesday also brought running back moves in New Orleans, Washington and Los Angeles, plus Denver's continued search for a back.

  • The Cardinals placed rookie running back Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve Tuesday with a high-ankle sprain, according to the team's transaction filing and NFL Network, which put his recovery at four to five weeks. In Baltimore, coach Jesse Minter announced that Joe Fagnano will start Thursday night against Jacksonville.

  • Arizona backfield

Love joins wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on IR, and Arizona promoted receiver Harrison Wallace III from the practice squad. Tyler Allgeier steps in as the lead back after running for 147 yards and a touchdown last week with Love out. The first-round pick had already been playing through a different ankle sprain.

    Ravens and Jaguars before Thursday

Fagnano practiced Tuesday in a brace on his right ankle. The Ravens also signed Kedon Slovis to the 53-man roster off Green Bay's practice squad, worked out former UFL MVP Adrian Martinez and put kicker Tyler Loop on IR with a groin injury that keeps him out at least four games.

On the other side, Bhayshul Tuten wasn't seen at Jaguars practice Tuesday after an estimated DNP Monday for ankle and foot problems. Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jakobi Meyers were both limited.

    Running back moves

The Saints claimed Audric Estime off waivers from Cleveland and released kicker Daniel Carlson. Washington put Jeremy McNichols on IR and claimed Robert Henry Jr. off waivers from Seattle, and the Rams placed Dean Connors on IR, per the ESPN transaction wire.

Late Tuesday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the Broncos will keep calling around for a running back, with Jonathan Taylor, Breece Hall and Tony Pollard among several options. No deal has been announced.

  • Contracts

The Colts gave defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore a two-year, $35 million extension with a $13 million signing bonus. The Giants and cornerback Greg Newsome agreed on three years and $46 million, $32 million guaranteed. Buffalo released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

    What to do now

Love owners should keep him on IR and avoid selling at a discount, since a four to five week timeline still leaves the fantasy playoffs in play. Allgeier is a flex starter this week. Estime is a deep-league claim now that he has a new team, and Henry is a stash only.

Watch Wednesday's final Jaguars injury report for Tuten before Thursday night, and watch Denver's phone calls, because a Taylor, Hall or Pollard deal would reshape two backfields at once.
