Bucs list Emeka Egbuka questionable for Sunday night at Chicago

Todd Bowles called the wide receiver a game-time decision after full practice Thursday and more work Friday. Owners should keep a WR3 ready until Tampa posts inactives.

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles listed wide receiver Emeka Egbuka questionable for Sunday night's game at the Chicago Bears on Friday, citing the foot injury that kept him out in Week 8. Beat writer Greg Auman and Underdog NFL both relayed the designation from Bowles' press conference.

  • What is confirmed

Egbuka is questionable for Week 9. Bowles said Friday that the receiver has made progress and that the staff will see how he feels Saturday and Sunday. RotoWire, citing Auman, framed it as a game-time decision. The only Buccaneers player Bowles fully ruled out is linebacker Yaya Diaby (knee).

    Practice trail

Egbuka missed Week 7 with a concussion and Week 8 with the foot issue. He returned to full practice participation on Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk and the Thursday injury report. Auman reported Friday that Egbuka practiced again and had been "full go" without visible setbacks earlier in the day, before Bowles settled on the questionable tag.

Left tackle Tristan Wirfs (toe) missed Thursday's practice, worked Friday, and Bowles said he will play against Chicago. That part is settled. Egbuka's status is not.

What RSO owners should do now

Do not auto-lock Egbuka into a starting lineup yet. Have a WR3 or flex option ready for a Sunday Night Football pivot if he is inactive. In redraft, he remains a hold after two missed games and a full practice before the question mark. In dynasty, nothing about Friday's tag changes his medium-term value.

If you already started him in a lineup that locks early, check whether your league allows Sunday night swaps. If not, prefer the safer WR over a GTD returning from a foot injury on a short turnaround.

  • What to watch next

Saturday updates from Bowles or the beat, then Sunday's inactive list. Auman and the Buccaneers social channels usually post the final call before kickoff. Until that posts, treat Egbuka as a soft play only in deeper leagues that need the upside.
