  • The Las Vegas Raiders released wide receiver Cody White on Wednesday, Nov. 4, ESPN's Adam Schefter said on X. SB Nation's Silver and Black Pride, carried by Yahoo Sports, added that the move clears room to activate tight end Carter Runyon from injured reserve.

  • What is confirmed

Wednesday was the deadline for the Raiders to either add Runyon to the 53-man roster or keep him on IR for the rest of the season. Runyon was hurt in training camp. He played in 13 games as an undrafted rookie in 2025, mostly on special teams, and joins Brock Bowers, Michael Mayer and Ian Thomas as the fourth tight end.

White signed with the Las Vegas practice squad in September, reuniting with head coach Klint Kubiak after the two won a Super Bowl with Seattle last season. The Raiders elevated him for the first three games, then signed him to the active roster when Jack Bech went on IR.

His first three catches this season were touchdowns. He finishes his run with eight catches for 112 yards and three scores on 19 targets. The fade was steep. Over the last three games he caught one pass for four yards on five targets, and Bech returned in Week 8.

    What is still open

Silver and Black Pride notes the Raiders could bring White back on the practice squad. Nobody has said whether another team is interested. Las Vegas still has six receivers on the active roster, and Dont'e Thornton and Malik Benson were both inactive in Week 8, so one of them or Runyon could take White's game-day spot.

What RSO owners should do now

If White is on your roster, he is a cut candidate in all but the deepest contract leagues. His three touchdowns came on very few targets, and his role had already disappeared before the release. Don't burn a cap dollar holding him on hope of a reunion.

  • The move does not change much for Bowers, Mayer or the top Raiders receivers. Runyon is a special teams add, not a fantasy option.

Next, watch whether White lands on the Raiders practice squad or with another team, and which of Thornton or Benson is active in Week 9.
