What is confirmed
Tyson has been on injured reserve with a right hamstring strain and has not practiced since Aug. 13. Head coach Kellen Moore said Monday that the team would decide by Wednesday whether to bring its IR players back to practice, and he grouped Tyson with running back Travis Etienne and left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. in that decision.
Once Tyson practices, the Saints have 21 days to move him to the active roster, and they can activate him at any point in that window. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 draft has not played an NFL snap.
What is still open
The Saints have not said whether Tyson will play Sunday at home against the Cleveland Browns. ESPN said over the weekend that Week 9 was possible, but a player coming off nearly three months away often needs more than one week of practice. New Orleans is 2-5, which gives the team little reason to rush him.
When he is ready, the path to snaps is clear. Chris Olave leads the room, and Devaughn Vele has played 91 percent of the team's snaps this season as the No. 2 receiver, according to RotoWire's snap data.
What RSO owners should do now
If Tyson is on your IR slot, keep him there until the Saints activate him, then move him to your active roster. He signed a four-year, $32.49 million rookie deal in May, so his contract value in RSO leagues sits mostly in the seasons ahead, and this practice return lowers the risk on that deal.
