Here is what is confirmed. Pierce left Monday night's 38-21 loss to Dallas in the fourth quarter with an injury the team has not described. Going on IR means he will miss at least the next four games. He is the fourth Eagles running back placed on IR this season, and ESPN's Ralph Vacchiano noted that Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley are among the others.
Pierce had become the main ball carrier while Saquon Barkley played through hamstring and back trouble. Barkley could barely play Monday, per Vacchiano, though he said afterward that the back injury will not keep him out. Martin Frank, who covers the team, listed the healthy running backs as Barkley, Elijah Mitchell and Blue.
Blue is on his second stint on the active roster. Philadelphia promoted him before its Week 6 game against Carolina, waived him the next week and brought him back to the practice squad. Dallas drafted him in the fifth round in 2025, and he ran 34 times for 129 yards and a touchdown in five games for the Cowboys.
The Eagles also signed guard Evan Beerntsen, wide receiver Quentin Skinner and defensive back Shaun Wade to the practice squad.
What RSO owners should do now: if you roster Pierce, move him to an IR slot if your league has one and stop counting on him for at least a month. Barkley owners should look at Mitchell as the first handcuff. He is the most likely early-down back if Barkley sits or gets limited snaps, and he costs little on a waiver claim or a small one-year deal. Blue is a deep-league stash at best until he shows up on the snap counts.
