Josh Downs asked the Colts for a trade Wednesday while Houston and Philadelphia each lost a skill player to IR. Lamar Jackson practiced fully, and Gibbs, St. Brown and Barkley sat out.

  • Colts receiver Josh Downs has asked Indianapolis to trade him, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said Wednesday, and Downs did not deny it when reporters asked. It led a busy Wednesday that also sent two skill players to injured reserve and opened the first practice reports of Week 8.

  • Downs and the deadline

Downs is on an expiring rookie deal, and the Nov. 10 deadline is under two weeks away. The Colts already moved Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner this week, so a deal is plausible, but nothing has been agreed.

    Two more names on IR

Houston placed receiver Jaylin Noel on injured reserve with a toe injury and claimed running back Emari Demercado off waivers from Dallas. The Houston Chronicle says Noel is expected to miss the rest of the season and needs surgery.

Philadelphia put running back Dameon Pierce on IR and promoted Jaydon Blue from the practice squad. Washington formally moved Terry McLaurin to IR after his season-ending knee injury and promoted Van Jefferson.

    Practice reports that matter

Lamar Jackson was a full participant for the first time since his ankle injury. Jahmyr Gibbs (shoulder) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) did not practice for Detroit. Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith were listed as non-participants after an Eagles walkthrough. Jaylen Waddle (chest) sat out in Miami, and Tyler Allgeier (toe) missed practice the day Jeremiyah Love returned limited in Arizona.

Ja'Marr Chase was absent from the open part of Bengals practice. Ladd McConkey (concussion) practiced fully, and Jim Harbaugh said Mike McDaniel keeps calling plays for the Chargers. Davante Adams had hamstring surgery, and Sean McVay expects him back closer to six weeks than ten. Matthew Golden is questionable for Thursday night against Carolina, and Kansas City signed Justin Tucker to its practice squad.

  • What RSO owners should do now

Downs owners should hold unless an offer pays for his upside, because a trade to a pass-first team could raise his value. Noel owners can move him to IR and plan without him. Blue and Demercado are deep-league adds. Line up a backup for Gibbs, St. Brown and Barkley until Thursday's reports.

    What to watch next

Thursday's practice reports for Detroit, Philadelphia and Cincinnati come first. Golden's status decides Green Bay lineups tonight, and any Downs offer would reshape the Colts' passing game.
