Here is what's confirmed. Skattebo is dealing with a hamstring injury he felt on his last carry of the Week 7 overtime win at Houston. The Giants then had their Week 8 bye, so he has now had more than a week off and still isn't practicing. On Monday, head coach John Harbaugh called him day-to-day and said he could be a game-time decision against the Eagles. Raanan now describes him as in doubt for Sunday.
The depth chart is the bigger issue. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is on injured reserve with his own hamstring injury, which leaves Devin Singletary and Greg Desrosiers as the only healthy running backs on the active roster. Desrosiers was signed off the Chargers' practice squad last week. Phil Mafah and Eric Gray are on the practice squad and took reps in Wednesday's drills.
What is still open: the Giants have not ruled Skattebo out, and nobody has mentioned an IR move. Thursday and Friday practices will tell the real story.
For RSO owners, keep Skattebo rostered and plan for Sunday without him. Line up a running back from a late game or the Sunday night slot so you have an easy swap if he's a true game-time call. Singletary is the clear add if he's sitting on your waiver wire, since he would lead a thin backfield against the Eagles. Desrosiers is a deeper stash only for owners in large leagues.
Don't sell Skattebo low. A hamstring that lingers through a bye is annoying, but nothing reported points to a long absence, and his contract is still a cheap rookie deal through 2028. A rival offering a discount this week is buying on the injury, not on the player.
