  • Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and returner Rashid Shaheed is ruled out for Sunday's Week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals with a knee injury, per ESPN and the team's final injury report. Underdog NFL posted the same out tag Friday evening. It is his second straight miss after he sat out Monday night against the Chicago Bears.

  • What's confirmed. Shaheed will not play Sunday at Lumen Field. ESPN's Brady Henderson listed him with Quenton Nelson, Sam Darnold, Charles Cross, Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu and Brandon Pili among Seattle's ruled-out players. The knee designation matches the one that kept him out of the Bears game. He did not practice this week.

How we got here. Shaheed joined Seattle in a midseason move and immediately became part of the return and perimeter package. The knee issue surfaced around the Chicago matchup, and the Friday report closes any chance of a one-week bounce-back against Arizona. Cooper Kupp, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tory Horton remain the healthy wideouts on the active depth chart while Drew Lock starts in place of Darnold.

  • Who gets the work. Expect Smith-Njigba to keep the lead route share with Lock under center. Kupp and Horton absorb the leftover targets. Return duties will go to whoever Seattle elevates or shifts from the practice week plan; do not assume Shaheed's return role returns with him next week until he practices fully.

What RSO owners should do now. Sit Shaheed for Week 9. Keep him rostered if you have IR or taxi room, because a second straight out with no midweek practice is not a soft rest day. If you streamed him hoping for a Cardinals rematch spark, move on for this slate.

What to watch next. Wednesday's Week 10 practice report. A limited session is the first positive signal. Full participation without a setback is the bar before you put him back in a lineup. Also watch whether Seattle keeps him on the 53 or cycles the roster around the returner spot if the knee stretches another week.
