Raiders activate Jack Bech from injured reserve for Sunday at the Jets

Las Vegas moved the second-year receiver back to its active roster Saturday, five days after opening his practice window. Bech has been out since breaking his forearm in Week 3 against the Saints.

  • The Las Vegas Raiders activated wide receiver Jack Bech from injured reserve on Saturday, the team announced. To open the roster spot, they placed defensive end Patrick Johnson on IR. Las Vegas also elevated defensive tackle Tim Keenan and a defensive end from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

  • The move lines up with what NFL Network's insider posted about an hour earlier: the Raiders expected to activate Bech so he could play Sunday. He has been recovering from a fractured forearm.

Here is what's confirmed. Bech is back on the 53-man roster and eligible for the 1 PM ET kickoff at MetLife Stadium on Fox. The Raiders opened his 21-day practice window on Monday, Oct. 26, so the club used only five days of it before making the call.

What is still open: his workload. Las Vegas has not said how many snaps he will get, and a player coming off a forearm fracture after more than a month away often eases back in. Cody White, who was signed to the active roster when Bech went on IR in late September, has filled part of that depth role since.

Before the injury, Bech had five catches for 48 yards and a touchdown through three games. That is a small sample, and nothing about his Week 8 role is set yet.

For RSO owners, this is a roster call more than a lineup call. If Bech has been sitting in your IR slot, move him back to your active roster now. Keep him on the bench this week unless you are desperate at receiver, since a first game back rarely brings a full share of routes.

  • If he was dropped in your league, he is worth a look as a cheap add. A bench spot is a low price to find out whether he can earn a bigger role in the second half of the season.

What to watch next: Bech's snap count and route share against the Jets. If he plays a regular rotation in his first game back, he becomes a real bench stash heading into November. If he is limited to a handful of snaps, give it another week before making any trade or cut decision.
