Roman Wilson expected to miss a couple of weeks with a finger injury

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler says the Steelers wideout is expected to miss a couple of weeks after Sunday's finger injury, and he is seeking a second opinion. Pittsburgh's receiver room was already thin with Michael Pittman Jr. on injured reserve.

  • Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a finger injury suffered Sunday against the Colts, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Monday, citing a source. Wilson is still gathering information on the injury and will seek a second opinion.

  • What is confirmed

Wilson left Sunday's win over Indianapolis in the second quarter and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Monday's update escalates that from a one-game exit to an expected multi-week absence. Fowler's report, also carried by ESPN, says he is expected to miss a couple of weeks and that he is seeking a second opinion.

Pittsburgh is already without Michael Pittman Jr., who went on injured reserve Saturday with a foot injury. Ben Skowronek also left Sunday with a calf injury. That leaves DK Metcalf, rookies Germie Bernard and Kaden Wetjen, and practice-squad elevation Brandon Smith as the healthy receivers on the current picture.

Wilson entered Sunday with the second-most receiving targets on the team and had stacked back-to-back 60-plus-yard games before the injury.

    What is still unknown

The Steelers have not posted an official multi-week timetable. Fowler's source points to a couple of weeks, not a sealed IR move. A second opinion could shorten or extend that window. Imaging details and Wednesday's first Week 6 practice report will matter more than Monday's outlook alone.

Why it matters for RSO rosters

Wilson had become a usable depth piece with Pittman out. A couple of weeks on the sideline pushes more work toward Metcalf and Bernard for the next start or two. Bernard caught 6 of 9 targets for 80 yards in Sunday's win and is the clearest short-term add in deeper leagues.

  • In shallow formats, Wilson is a hold-and-wait case rather than a drop. In deeper or dynasty leagues, keep him rostered until the second opinion and midweek practice clarify whether this is two weeks or longer.

    What RSO owners should do

Hold Wilson. Do not drop him off one Monday report while a second opinion is pending. Check waivers for Bernard if you need Week 6 receiver help behind Metcalf.

Watch Tomlin's Monday availability comments and Wednesday's practice participation. A DNP midweek would lock in a Week 6 sit. Recheck before your Week 6 lock once the injury report is out.
