  • Saquon Barkley is considered week to week with the hamstring injury that ended his Sunday appearance against the Rams, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Monday night. Their report says the injury is not considered long term. That adds a recovery assessment to Philadelphia’s depleted backfield, although Barkley has not been ruled out of Week 5 against Jacksonville.

Monday’s earlier report said Tank Bigsby needed core muscle surgery and was headed to injured reserve. The hope is that Bigsby can return in six weeks or less. His 14 carries for 55 yards in Sunday’s 24–20 loss cannot simply be carried forward into the next lineup.

  • Will Shipley added six carries for 23 yards Sunday. Yahoo Sports’ Andy Backstrom reported that if Barkley cannot play against Jacksonville, Shipley would be the remaining option from the backs who handled carries against Los Angeles. Philadelphia has not announced a starting running back or a division of carries.

The Eagles’ offense had problems beyond its injured backs in the loss to Los Angeles. Philadelphia finished with 172 total yards and failed to convert any of its 12 third-down attempts. It led 20–10 at halftime but did not score after the break, allowing two late Kyren Williams touchdowns to decide the game.

CBS Philadelphia independently reported Nick Sirianni’s Monday comments that Barkley would do everything he could to return. Its injury coverage also notes that Cam Jurgens self-reported concussion symptoms and entered the protocol, adding another availability question on the offensive line.

For managers, Shipley is the remaining healthy option among the three backs who carried the ball Sunday. A larger role is conditional on Barkley’s availability and Philadelphia’s next roster decisions. The week-to-week report gives a clearer medical outlook, but it establishes neither a Week 5 absence nor a guaranteed carry count for Shipley.

  • October 6 update: Eagles confirm Bigsby’s IR move

The Eagles announced Tuesday that Tank Bigsby has been placed on injured reserve. Their official report says he left late in the fourth quarter against the Rams after a rushing attempt and medical evaluation, having carried most of the backfield workload after Barkley’s first-quarter exit. The IR announcement confirms Bigsby’s roster status; it does not announce a return date for Barkley or name Philadelphia’s next starting running back.
