Rams put Davante Adams on IR as he heads for hamstring surgery

Los Angeles moved Davante Adams and Poona Ford to injured reserve Tuesday, and Adams is having surgery on his ruptured hamstring. Tuesday also ended Terry McLaurin's season and thinned the backfields in New York and Philadelphia.

  • The Rams placed Davante Adams on injured reserve Tuesday, and he is having surgery on the hamstring he ruptured in Sunday's loss to Arizona, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and the league's transaction wire. Nose tackle Poona Ford went on IR with him. Sean McVay said Monday that Adams would miss 6 to 10 weeks, and IR now guarantees at least four.

  • Tuesday brought more news that moves RSO rosters.

Terry McLaurin is out for the season. Dan Quinn said Tuesday that the Washington receiver tore his patellar tendon Monday night in San Francisco, and Rapoport said the MRI confirmed it.

The Giants released Najee Harris after he started and got four carries in Sunday's loss to New Orleans. Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary remain on the roster.

Philadelphia waived Jaydon Blue and waived Carson Steele with an injury designation, then signed Elijah Mitchell to the practice squad. That leaves Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce as the only running backs on the 53-man roster, per Adam Schefter and the team's moves.

Colts coach Shane Steichen said Alec Pierce will not practice this week, so his IR return window stays closed for Week 7.

  • Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson is eligible to come off IR next week but is not expected to be ready, Schefter said, with a source calling the ankle recovery one that "will take some time." Bears running back Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe) missed practice again Tuesday, per Underdog NFL.

At the owners meeting in New York, NFL chief medical officer Allen Sills defended the Eagles' medical staff over Jalen Hurts' blood clot. The NFL Players Association answered Tuesday night with a statement calling for a full investigation. Hurts remains out for the season, so nothing changes for his RSO owners this week.

What to do now: move Adams and McLaurin to IR slots where your league allows them. Adams has a return path late in the season. McLaurin does not, so contenders can plan around him, and rebuilders can weigh his contract against 2027. Pick up Pierce in Philadelphia if he is still free, and treat Harris as a free agent for now.

What to watch next: whether a team claims Harris, Wednesday's first official Week 7 injury reports, and Monangai's status before the Bears' next game.
