The Rams receiver exited Thursday's session early and is expected to be listed as limited. The injury comes days after Davante Adams went on injured reserve.

  • Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua left practice early Thursday with a calf injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter posted Thursday evening. The team is expected to list him as a limited participant on Thursday's injury report.

  • What is confirmed

Nacua hurt his calf during Thursday's session and did not finish it. NFL.com's Around the NFL staff and Yahoo Sports both carried the news, and Underdog NFL noted he was limited. Nobody has put a severity or a timeline on the injury yet, and the Rams have not said whether he is in danger of missing a game.

    What we don't know yet

There is no word on imaging, and no update from Sean McVay. A player leaving practice early can mean a precaution or a multi-week strain, and right now there is nothing public that points either way.

Why it matters for RSO owners

This lands on a Rams offense that is already short. Davante Adams went on injured reserve earlier this week after a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss, and Yahoo Sports said he is expected to miss six to 10 weeks. The Rams are 2-4. If Nacua misses time too, Los Angeles would be without both of its top receivers at once.

Nacua is also coming off an earlier hip and groin issue that had him on a possible snap limit around Week 4 before he was cleared with no restrictions. A second soft tissue problem in the same month is worth taking seriously for owners carrying him on a big contract.

    What to do now

Hold Nacua. Don't sell him off one practice note, since buyers will price in the worst case. If you start him, line up a fallback receiver so you can pivot late if he is ruled out. Contending owners with open roster spots can look at the Rams' depth receivers, who would see more targets with Adams already out. Don't spend real cap on them before the Rams say more.

  • What to watch next

Watch Friday's Rams practice report first. A downgrade to did not practice would be a bad sign, while a full session would ease most of the concern. Then watch for his game status designation and any McVay comments on the severity.
