  • The Carolina Panthers are preparing a $1.3 billion transformation of Bank of America Stadium, Front Office Sports reported after speaking with team executives in Charlotte. Public funding is set to cover $650 million. Owner David Tepper will pay the other half and any cost overruns.

Nearly every seat is scheduled to be replaced over the next four years, with new scoreboards, concourses, luxury suites and club areas. A new practice facility is slated to open next year, and a 4,400-capacity music venue is planned next to the football stadium in 2029. Capacity at the 75,000-seat venue will shrink, and some season-ticket holders will move seats. Final numbers have not been announced.

  • Panthers president and CEO Kristi Coleman told FOS the club wants major NFL events in Charlotte. "We talk about the NFL Draft, we're really excited about that," she said. "I think at some point we will have a Super Bowl—that is the ultimate goal." The next open Super Bowl window is 2031, the year after the renovation is scheduled to finish. Sports Business Journal separately detailed the $1.3 billion plan and Tepper's push to make the venue a year-round destination.

Unlike the Jaguars' temporary move during their own stadium work, the Panthers and Charlotte FC plan to keep playing at Bank of America Stadium through construction. Fans still face disruptions that the club has not fully spelled out.

What it means for RSO owners

This is a facilities and events story, not a roster move. Cap space and Bryce Young's contract clock are separate. Watch how construction affects home-game presentation, suite inventory and whether Charlotte lands a Draft or Super Bowl bid once the building is finished.
