Jets rule out Breece Hall and Adonai Mitchell vs the Patriots

Aaron Glenn confirmed Friday that the running back (quad) and receiver (finger) will miss Sunday in New England. It is Hall's third absence of the season and Mitchell's fourth straight missed game.

  • The New York Jets ruled out running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell on Friday for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. Head coach Aaron Glenn said Hall (quad) and Mitchell (finger) will not play, and Adam Schefter of ESPN and Underdog NFL both posted the designations within minutes of the team report.

  • What is confirmed

Glenn also ruled out left guard Dylan Parham for Sunday. Pro Football Talk, citing Glenn's Friday press conference, said this is Mitchell's fourth straight missed game and the third absence of the season for both Hall and Parham. Linebacker Joseph Ossai (ankle) is the only defensive player listed as out.

Schefter's wording matched earlier this month: the Jets "once again" have Hall and Mitchell out, this time for the Week 6 divisional game in New England. The same pair was ruled out for Week 4 against Chicago and Week 5 against Cleveland.

On the positive side of Friday's report, tight end Kenyon Sadiq moved up to full practice as he works through the concussion protocol, and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. (ankle) was set to be a full participant as he nears activation from injured reserve.

Why it matters for RSO rosters

Hall is still the Jets' top contracted back when healthy, so another confirmed out locks the Week 6 backfield away from him. When Hall sat against Cleveland, Brian Costello of the New York Post noted Braelon Allen handling early rushing work, including eight carries for 54 yards in the first half. Allen and any other Jets backs who stay active are the ones who can score for you this week.

Mitchell's finger has now cost him four straight games, so he is not a Week 6 start in any format. Garrett Wilson remains the clear top Jets receiver with Mitchell out. Cooper's progress toward coming off IR is the longer-term roster note, not a Sunday guarantee. Parham's absence matters for the line, not for skill-position scoring.

  • What to do now

Sit Hall and Mitchell for Week 6. Prefer Allen over Hall in weekly lineups until Hall clears a Friday report and suits up. Do not treat Mitchell as a must-start upside play while the finger keeps wiping out games.

Watch Sunday's inactives to confirm the Jets backfield is intact, and watch Cooper's practice track for any activation off IR around this Patriots game.
