The three late games on Sunday all went final, and each one left RSO owners with something to act on before Week 6. San Francisco stayed unbeaten with a 32-29 win at Seattle, Detroit beat Arizona 45-21 in Glendale, and Denver won 23-17 at a winless Chargers team.
Final scores
- 49ers 32, Seahawks 29. San Francisco moved to 5-0. Eddy Pineiro's 44-yard field goal with 1:56 left decided it.
- Lions 45, Cardinals 21. Detroit improved to 3-2 and Arizona fell to 1-4.
- Broncos 23, Chargers 17. Denver moved to 3-2. The Chargers are 0-5.
Fantasy standouts
Jahmyr Gibbs had the best day of the window: 25 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns, plus 5 catches for 56 yards. Jared Goff went 19 of 30 for 271 yards and three scores. Jameson Williams caught only two passes, but both went for touchdowns (47 yards total). Sam LaPorta added 5 catches for 88 yards and a fourth-down touchdown.
Mike Evans caught 7 of 10 targets for 113 yards and a touchdown, and he also caught the two-point try in the fourth quarter. Brock Purdy threw for 189 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Christian McCaffrey ran 11 times for 68 yards and a score.
For Seattle, Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 5 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Trey McBride caught 9 of 10 targets for 66 yards and a score in Arizona's loss, and Jacoby Brissett threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.
Quiet days
The Denver-Los Angeles game gave fantasy owners very little. Bo Nix threw for 123 yards on 27 attempts, and Justin Herbert threw for 121 yards and was sacked five times. J.K. Dobbins found the end zone but needed 18 carries to reach 68 yards. Jaylen Waddle caught 2 of 5 targets for 19 yards. Amon-Ra St. Brown drew 11 targets but caught only 6 for 69 yards.
Arizona's rookie back Jeremiyah Love managed 22 yards on 12 carries. Sam Darnold threw two interceptions, and Emanuel Wilson needed 20 carries for 61 yards, though he did score.
Injuries and roles
San Francisco ruled out Deebo Samuel Sr. with a hamstring injury during the game. He had 2 catches for 21 yards before leaving. Evans is clearly Purdy's top target, and Brandin Cooks caught the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Chargers receiver Tre' Harris was questionable to return with a hamstring injury, per Adam Schefter. Kimani Vidal led the Chargers with 57 rushing yards and a touchdown on 8 carries.
What RSO owners should do
Start Gibbs, Evans and Smith-Njigba every week. If Deebo misses time, Cooks is worth a speculative add in deeper leagues. Williams scored twice on a low-volume day, so don't pay for it in trades. Owners of Love and Dobbins should keep them on the bench until their offenses improve, and Herbert owners have a real problem behind a line that allowed five sacks.
