Philadelphia will face Jacksonville on Sunday without its lead back and its No. 2 receiver, both out with hamstring injuries. Will Shipley moves to the front of a thin backfield, and Dallas Goedert returns at tight end.

  • The Philadelphia Eagles will play Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London without running back Saquon Barkley or wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Both players have hamstring injuries, and both were ruled out on Friday, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. RotoBaller also listed both players as officially out for Week 5.

  • This is the step past what we covered Friday morning. Barkley and Smith missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, and the question was whether either could get to London in time. Barkley was not spotted at Friday's practice, and Smith did rehab work on a side field, per EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer. The Eagles have now settled it for this week.

Clark's update also had good news for the offense. Tight end Dallas Goedert is back after missing two games with a knee injury, and linebacker Zack Baun is out of the concussion protocol. Center Drew Kendall is out, and edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is questionable.

The backfield shrinks quickly without Barkley. Tank Bigsby is on injured reserve, which leaves Will Shipley, Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue. Shipley is expected to get the first crack at the starting job.

At receiver, rookie Makai Lemon and Darius Cooper should again see big roles. Dontayvion Wicks hurt his hamstring in Thursday's practice and was limited, and his final status for Sunday was not clear from the reports we checked.

The news on Barkley and Smith points to one missed week. Neither player is headed to injured reserve based on what has come out so far.

  • What RSO owners should do now: Barkley and Smith owners need a Week 5 replacement in the lineup. Shipley is the top add or start from this backfield, with Pierce as a cheaper backup. Lemon and Cooper are fine depth plays, and Goedert goes back into tight end lineups. Hold Barkley and Smith. Neither injury looks like a reason to sell at a discount.

What to watch next: The Eagles' inactive list Sunday morning, Wicks' status, and whether Barkley and Smith are back at practice when the team returns to Philadelphia next week.
