  • The Philadelphia Eagles ruled out wide receiver DeVonta Smith on Saturday for Monday night's home game against the Dallas Cowboys. Smith has a hamstring injury, and the team's final injury report also lists wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks as out with an ankle injury.

  • The game status came out Saturday afternoon and was confirmed by ESPN and NFL Network, with Eagles beat writers posting the full report. Running back Saquon Barkley is questionable with a hamstring injury after a full practice, according to NFL Network.

Smith did not practice Thursday, when the Eagles opened their Week 7 report with Smith, Wicks and tight end Dallas Goedert all sitting out. Smith's hamstring has bothered him for most of this month, and Saturday's ruling takes away any hope of a Monday night return.

For RSO owners, Smith is a lineup decision you can make now. Since he plays in the last game of the week, a questionable tag would have forced managers to hold a spot open until Monday. That problem is gone. Move him to the bench and fill the spot from players who play Sunday.

Losing both Smith and Wicks thins out the Philadelphia receiver room for one night. Makai Lemon is the most obvious name to see more targets, and Goedert, if he plays, could see extra looks too. Treat either as a matchup play for one week, not a long-term add worth a big waiver bid or a multiyear contract.

Do not sell Smith over this. A hamstring that lingers is a real concern for a receiver who wins with speed, but no one has put him on injured reserve or given a long timeline. If a league mate in a contract league wants to buy low, make them pay close to fair value.

  • Barkley's status matters too. A full practice is a good sign, and a questionable tag after full work usually points toward playing. Check the Eagles' inactive list about 90 minutes before Monday's 8:15 PM ET kickoff before you lock him in.

What to watch next: Smith's practice status next Wednesday. Another missed session would raise the chance this hamstring costs him more than one more game.
