Eagles elevate Ertz and Deguara with Goedert still out

  • The Eagles elevated Zach Ertz and Josiah Deguara from their practice squad Saturday for Sunday's game against the Rams. The team's October 3 announcement confirms game-day roster places for both tight ends while Dallas Goedert remains out with a knee injury. Ertz's earlier practice-squad signing has now produced a second consecutive elevation.

  • Ertz made his season debut Monday against Chicago, playing 19 offensive snaps and catching one pass for nine yards, NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro reported. He was targeted twice. Zangaro reported that Philadelphia limited his workload as he returned from the ACL and LCL injury he sustained with Washington last December. Saturday's elevation confirms another opportunity to play, rather than a guaranteed increase in snaps or targets.

  • Deguara receives his first elevation since signing with Philadelphia's practice squad on September 15. Zangaro reported that the 29-year-old has played 77 NFL games with 12 starts, recording 53 catches for 471 yards and three touchdowns, alongside 972 special-teams snaps. Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins remain the other tight ends in Philadelphia's group.

Goedert, DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown are among the players ruled out for Sunday's game. Those absences leave Philadelphia with fewer established receiving options, but they do not identify which tight end will lead the group in routes or targets.

  • This is Ertz's second of the three standard practice-squad elevations available to him, Zangaro reported. Deguara is using his first. If Philadelphia uses Ertz's remaining elevation and wants him available for another regular-season game afterward, it would need a place for him on the active roster.

For RSO managers, the roster status has moved beyond the earlier wait for an elevation. The next useful evidence is Sunday's usage: Ertz's participation relative to Mundt, Jenkins and Deguara, plus Goedert's subsequent injury updates. Neither Saturday move guarantees a starting job or a fixed receiving workload.
