  • Washington Commanders wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants with a hamstring injury. Head coach Dan Quinn ruled him out at his Friday press conference, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and The Athletic's Ben Standig.

  • Diggs did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, though reporters saw him during the open period Thursday. He was not spotted on the field Friday.

The loss is real for Washington's passing game. Through four games, Diggs leads the team's wide receivers with 31 targets, 18 catches, 170 yards and three touchdowns, per NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay.

The news is better elsewhere. Quinn said quarterback Jayden Daniels is good to go. Terry McLaurin, who also missed practice this week with a hamstring injury, was back at practice Friday with his helmet in hand, and Quinn said he is headed in a good direction. Standig wrote that McLaurin sounds set to face the Giants. Sam Cosmi and running back Rachaad White are also in for Sunday, according to Standig.

McLaurin does not have a final designation yet. That comes with Friday's injury report.

    What RSO owners should do

Take Diggs out of your Week 5 lineup. A hamstring that kept him out of the final two practices can linger, so do not count on him for Week 6 until he practices fully. Hold him unless your roster is in a real crunch.

  • Plan to start McLaurin if he is not listed as doubtful on the final report. With Diggs out, he should see a larger share of Daniels' targets, and he has 920 yards and six touchdowns in 13 career games against New York, per Finlay. If you are counting on him in an early slot, keep a backup from a later game on your bench in case he has a setback before kickoff.

Owners looking for a short-term fill-in should check which Washington receiver takes the No. 2 role behind McLaurin in practice reports, but nothing confirmed points to one player yet.

What to watch next: McLaurin's designation on Friday's report, any weekend roster move at receiver, and Diggs' practice status when Washington returns next week.
