  • The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Saturday. The team told Harrison on Saturday morning that he will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions while the details get worked out.

  • What is confirmed and what is not

Two things are firm. Harrison will not play in Week 5, and both insiders say his time in Arizona is over. Schefter added that no trade will be completed until after Sunday's games are played.

The destination is still open. Schefter and Rapoport said the Houston Texans have held trade talks with Arizona and are thought to be squarely in the mix. A move to Houston would reunite Harrison with C.J. Stroud, his college quarterback at Ohio State. ESPN's Stephen Holder said the Indianapolis Colts are not involved.

ESPN said Arizona had asked teams for first-round value, while other clubs viewed Harrison as worth something closer to a second- or third-round pick.

    The fantasy picture

Harrison has been a quiet part of the Arizona offense this season, with five catches on 12 targets for 85 yards and one touchdown through four games. Trey McBride, Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne and rookie running back Jeremiyah Love have all seen more targets.

His contract is friendly for whoever lands him. Harrison is due $4 million this season and $5.62 million in 2027, and his fifth-year option decision comes up this offseason. Arizona already paid his $22.5 million signing bonus.

  • What RSO owners should do

If you roster Harrison, take him out of your Week 5 lineup now. He is inactive, so there is no game-time call to wait on.

Do not cut or sell him in a panic. A fresh start with a quarterback who knows him could give him a bigger role than the one he had in Arizona. If a league mate is selling low after a slow start, it is a fair time to ask about him.

On the Arizona side, Wilson and Bourne should see more snaps on Sunday. McBride remains the top target in that offense either way.

Watch for the trade to be finalized after Sunday's games, along with the final team and the price.
