  • Caleb Williams is inactive for the Chicago Bears on Sunday at Green Bay, so Tyson Bagent makes a second straight start at quarterback. The Bears listed Williams on their inactive list for the Week 5 game at Lambeau Field, and ESPN's Adam Schefter included him among Sunday's notable inactives.

  • What is confirmed

Williams has been dealing with a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2. The Bears listed him as questionable on Friday after he returned to practice in a limited role, the first sign he was getting close. That was not enough to get him on the field this week.

Bagent starts in his place, as he did last week against the Jets. He threw for 268 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in that game, which Chicago won. The Bears are also without running back Kyle Monangai, who was ruled out Friday with a toe injury.

    What is reported

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said Sunday morning that Williams is pushing to play next week. Tom Pelissero said Saturday that Williams has resumed throwing but is still working back to running at full speed. Neither report puts a firm date on his return.

What RSO owners should do now

If you had Williams in a lineup slot hoping for a late call, move him out before kickoff. Bagent is a usable streaming option only in deeper superflex or two-quarterback leagues, and his ceiling is limited by a Chicago offense that is also missing Monangai.

For Bears pass catchers, the change is not new. They played with Bagent last week, so keep your usual starters but temper expectations in a tough road setting.

  • Williams owners should not panic or sell low. A hamstring that has him throwing again and practicing on a limited basis points toward a return soon, and the practice reports on Wednesday and Thursday will be the first real signal for next week.

    What to watch next

Watch whether Williams moves from limited to full practice this week. A full session by Thursday would make him a likely starter for Week 6. Another limited week would leave Bagent in line for a third start.
