Browns clear KC Concepcion from concussion protocol for Sunday vs. Ravens

Todd Monken said Friday that the rookie receiver will play against Baltimore after his Week 5 head injury. Concepcion carries no game status for Week 6, so owners can plan to use him again.

  • Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and will play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Head coach Todd Monken gave the update Friday, according to NFL.com, and ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi posted the same news from Cleveland.

  • What is confirmed

Concepcion got hurt in last Sunday's 17-12 loss to the New York Jets after a hit from safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Browns ruled him out of that game with a head injury, and he entered the protocol the same day.

Five days later he is cleared. He is not on the list of Browns players with a Week 6 game status, so there is no questionable tag to track before kickoff. The game starts at 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Cleveland on Fox.

Wide receiver Tylan Wallace also has no status and returns after missing three games with a knee injury. Running back Quinshon Judkins (ankle) is questionable, and running back Dylan Sampson (knee) stays on injured reserve and is out.

Why it matters for RSO owners

Concussions are hard to plan around because a player can be held out late in the week with little warning. Clearing on Friday takes that risk off the table for Week 6. Concepcion is back to being a lineup call about his role in the offense.

He also returns while the Cleveland backfield is thin. With Judkins questionable and Sampson on injured reserve, the Browns could push more of the offense through the passing game against Baltimore. Game script will still decide a lot of that.

  • What to do now

If you benched Concepcion or moved him to a reserve spot while he was in the protocol, put him back in your Week 6 plans and treat him the way you did before the injury. If you added another receiver as cover, that player becomes the first drop once your lineup is set.

His dynasty value does not need a second look. A rookie contract runs cheap for several seasons, and one week in the protocol did not change what you are paying him or what he can become. Hold him as you were.

    What to watch next

Check Cleveland's inactive list about 90 minutes before kickoff to confirm nothing changed, and watch Judkins' status, which shapes how the Browns split work in the backfield. Next week's first practice report will show whether Concepcion came out of the Ravens game without a setback.
