  • Josh Jacobs will come off the commissioner's exempt list Monday, October 19, making the Packers running back eligible to return for Green Bay's Week 7 game against Detroit. The NFL announced the change Friday. Its review of his legal situation remains open, and further discipline is still possible.

Jacobs has been on the exempt list since August 30. That status kept him from practices and games. Friday's announcement does not make him available for Sunday night's Week 6 game against Dallas; the change takes effect the following day. ESPN's Rob Demovsky reported the league's decision, and Adam Schefter reported the Monday timing.

The NFL also removed Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper from the list Friday. Cooper is eligible to return in Week 7 against Arizona. Denver already played its Week 6 game Thursday night. The league's investigation of Cooper also remains ongoing.

Jacobs pleaded no contest in September to misdemeanor battery and criminal-damage charges, NFL.com reported. The change to his football status does not close the league's review of the case.
