What is confirmed
Kirk stays on injured reserve and will not play on Monday Night Football. The 49ers opened his 21-day practice window last Thursday, Oct. 15, and they chose not to activate him for this game. San Francisco elevated wide receiver Malik Turner and linebacker Jalen Graham from the practice squad as standard game-day elevations.
The 21-day clock keeps running. The 49ers still have until early November to activate Kirk to the 53-man roster before he would revert to season-ending IR. Underdog NFL lists the injury as a calf problem.
What is still unclear
A local beat writer reads the moves as a sign that Mike Evans will be active tonight, with Turner filling out a five-man receiver group. The team has not said that directly, so check the inactive list about 90 minutes before the 8:15 PM ET kickoff.
The bigger unknown is how quickly Kirk returns. ESPN's Nick Wagoner says his return will wait at least another week. That is a timing note, and the team has not set a new target date.
What RSO owners should do now
Take Kirk out of any lineup tonight. If he is on your IR spot, leave him there and do not cut him to free up room. His window is open and he is close, so the stash still makes sense for teams that need receiver depth later in the year.
